Rhode Island Oral Health Foundation's Signature Event
Rhode Island Mission of Mercy (RIMOM)
What is the RIMOM?
The RIMOM, a two-day FREE dental clinic, is held once a year and provides free dental care to the uninsured, underinsured or anyone who cannot access dental care.
At the clinic, patients will initially undergo a health and dental screening, and will then be provided with treatment on a first-come, first-served basis, based on their oral health needs.
Services include cleanings, fillings, x-rays, tooth extractions, root canal treatment on front teeth only, and oral health instructions. These are provided by licensed dental professional volunteers.
The clinic is staffed with over 250 dental & medical volunteers and over 200 community volunteers who graciously give their time, talent and clinical expertise to provide FREE dental services to deserving patients.
Our Needs:
We recognize that, as a foundation, we can't do it alone. Volunteers are essential to the success of the RIMOM.
We wish to secure 500+ individual volunteers which will include dentists, dental hygienists and dental assistants, as well as dental and medical professionals, lab technicians and lay persons from across Rhode Island willing to donate their time and talents.
We need the help of collaborating organizations, such as local dental societies, specialty groups, dental hygiene schools, local and statewide corporations, dental supply companies, and other charitable foundations.
We also recognize that, in addition to time donated by individuals and organizations, we need financial support.
Financial donations and in-kind contributions may be made through the Rhode Island Oral Health Foundation (RIOHF) to help cover our RIMOM 2024 program budget of $183,000 for dental equipment, instruments and materials, supplies, pharmaceuticals and food costs for this two-day free clinic. Contributions, no matter the amount, will make a difference in treating thousands of patients.
RIMOM delivers, on average, $7 to $8 in critically-needed dental care for every donor dollar received.
Donations may come in the form of funds, dental supplies, donated meals and/or snacks and a variety of other support items.
